The development of optical communication technology and information technology is complementary to each other, on the one hand, optical communication devices rely on precision packaging structure to achieve high-fidelity output of optical signals, so that the precision packaging technology of optical communication devices has become a key manufacturing technology to ensure the sustainable and rapid development of information industry; On the other hand, the continuous innovation and development of information technology has put forward higher requirements for optical communication devices: faster transmission rate, higher performance indicators, smaller dimensions, higher photoelectric integration degree, and more economical packaging technology.
The packaging structure of optical communication devices is varied, and the typical packaging form is shown in the figure below. Because the structure and size of optical communication devices are very small (the typical core diameter of single-mode fiber is less than 10μm), a slight deviation in any direction during the coupling package will cause a large coupling loss. Therefore, the alignment of optical communication devices with coupled moving units needs to have high positioning accuracy. In the past, the device, which is about 30cm x 30cm in size, is composed of discrete optical communication components and digital signal processing (DSP) chips, and makes tiny optical communication components through silicon photonic process technology, and then integrates digital signal processors made by 7nm advanced process to form optical transceivers, greatly reducing the size of the device and reducing power loss.
